You know what they say about men: some of them are handsome and some of them are smart. But most are goofy looking and pretty dull. This is sad for the men involved and really, really terrible for the women.
There isn't much women can do about the tragic short-comings (you'll excuse the expression) of men. (Unless you'd like to try a Tiresian conversion.) At least, there was virtually nothing to be done until the creation of EncoreAgain. This inspired tool was put to excellent use by the self-effacing and generous Sue Ellen. In an act of supreme kindness, she reincarnated herself as Joe Terrific.
Sue Ellen gave herself up to bring the opportunity for happiness to women everywhere (or at least one woman, somewhere) in the form of the one and only perfect man. Her reincarnation request read, simply, "The perfect Joe Terrific." The resulting reincarnation was a huge success.
He was immaculately conceived in her delicious imagination as a charmer without guile. Tall, athletic and unspeakably handsome. Long-lasting and generous. Rich. With a great serve and volley game. Erudite. Punctual. With wonderful penmanship. He enjoys classical music and jazz. Likes long walks and snuggling. Is sentimental but not gooey. Is a gourmet cook and is a connoisseur of fine wines. Joe is emotionally available and capable of great stoicism. What you might call a man's man that girls like.
"Being reborn this way is splendid," Joe says. "It gives me the opportunity to give and, in so doing, receive. What could be better?"
